What costs credits, what doesn't
A reference table of every credit-spending action in ComicInk.

Regenerate a single panel | 50 credits | Cheaper than redoing the page if only one panel is wrong |

Generate a store banner or store logo | 10 credits | Every generation, no free quota |
Every entity image — character, character avatar, asset, asset avatar, world, series title, store banner/logo — costs the same flat 10 credits, whether it's the first image you generate or the fiftieth regeneration. There's no free-character quota and no free-regeneration count anymore.
Story Videos — per-second pricing (web only)
Story Video renders are charged per second of finished footage at approximately 152 credits per second at 720p. The exact cost is shown in-app before you confirm; typical videos cost roughly 3,700–12,000 credits.
An optional 1080p HD upscale at Publish costs 19 credits per second (9:16 / 16:9) or 11 credits per second (1:1), billed only for the scenes that need upscaling. See Story Video credits and costs for full details.

Your first two comic renders | Once per account, for life. A render is your cover or a page, whichever comes first — so a first comic usually gets a free cover and a free page 1. Counts initial generation and regeneration alike, on top of your 100 free credits. A free render that fails isn't counted |
Create a series | All series-level setup is free |
Create an issue | The issue itself is free; pages cost 50 each |
Edit dialogue / narration text | Always free; text is overlay, not burned into image |
Image fix ("Fix Errors") — first 2 fixes per page | Free; "Fix Errors" always regenerates the whole page |
Add character or asset assignments to a panel | Free — assigning an already-defined character/asset to a panel doesn't cost anything by itself; only generating the panel/page image does |
Publish an issue | Free |
Republish an issue | Free |
Translate an issue's metadata (title, synopsis) | Free; AI text translation, not image |
Use the flipbook reader | Free |
Browse the gallery | Free |
Set up a storefront | Free; revenue split kicks in at the sale, not setup |
Quick rule of thumb
If it generates an image with characters and a story (page, panel, cover, page translation), it costs 50 credits. If it generates a single-subject reference image (a character portrait, an asset, a world, a title image), it costs a flat 10 credits — every time, including regenerations. If it's not image generation at all (text editing, publishing, assigning an existing character to a panel), it's free.
"Render everything" costs more than the page count
Generate All — whether you click it or ask Sidekick for it — renders everything the issue needs to be finished, not just the pages. That's:
- any character portrait that hasn't been generated yet, at 10 credits each
- the front cover, if it hasn't been rendered, at 50
- every page that still needs art, at 50 each
So an issue with 8 unrendered pages, no cover and no missing portraits is 9 renders, not 8 — 450 credits, not 400. If two characters also need portraits, it's 470.
The confirmation you approve breaks this down term by term, and that breakdown is the number you're charged — the quote, the button's price tag and the deduction all read from the same place. If Sidekick ever tells you a total that doesn't match the confirmation card, the card is the one that's right.
If Sidekick asks you to confirm the render price again, this is why. A confirmation card can sit for a while, and in that time you might edit a page or add a character. If the true cost has gone up since the card was drawn, the render doesn't start — you're asked to approve the new number instead. It won't quietly charge you more than you agreed to, and nothing is deducted until you confirm the second time.
If you can't afford the whole job, ComicInk renders as much of it as your balance covers and tells you what it actually started, rather than refusing or overspending. Top up and run it again to finish the rest.
Edge cases
- Failed generation: refunded automatically. You're never charged for an image that didn't generate.
- Translating to multiple languages: each language is a separate generation at 50 credits per page/cover. Three pages × four languages = 3 × 4 × 50 = 600 credits.
- Quick comic on
/quick(anonymous): doesn't deduct credits; it's free for the visitor and rate-limited instead.
