Frequently Asked Questions: Pricing & Credits
Is there a subscription, or do credits refresh monthly?
Neither. ComicInk is pay-as-you-go: you buy credits once and spend them at your own pace. Nothing recurs, nothing renews, and credits never expire. There is no membership to cancel.
How many free credits do I get, and what do they buy?
New accounts get 100 free credits at signup. That's enough for two generated pages, or ten characters, or a mix.
It's a one-time grant — there's no monthly refresh. What it's really for is trying the pipeline end to end before you spend anything: writing scripts is free, so you can build a complete issue and use the 100 credits to see a page or two rendered in your chosen style.
Do I get free credits every day? Is there a daily login bonus?
No. There is no daily login bonus, no daily or weekly free credits, no login streak, no watch-an-ad-for-credits option, and no monthly allowance. Signing in every day does not add credits to your balance.
Free credits are one-time, and there are exactly three sources:
- 100 credits at signup — granted once, per account.
- Your first two renders — free once for the life of the account (see below).
- Referrals — you earn credits each time someone signs up through your invite. See referral program.
Beyond those, credits come from buying a pack. Nothing tops your balance up automatically. The upside of that is the other direction: nothing expires either, so credits you buy or earn sit in your account until you use them.
How do I buy more credits?
Click your credit balance in the top bar and pick a pack.
On web: payment is by card, through Stripe. On iOS: purchases go through Apple In-App Purchase. Prices are the same on both. Card payment is the only web method — bank transfer, QRIS, and similar local methods aren't supported.
The four packs and their prices are listed in credit packs.
What does a whole comic cost to make?
Depends almost entirely on how many pages you generate, because pages dominate. Roughly:
- Writing and editing the script — free, however much you rewrite.
- Each character, avatar, asset, world, or title image — 10 credits, every generation and every regeneration.
- Each generated page, cover, back cover, or translated page — 50 credits.
So a 12-page issue with six characters is 12 × 50 for the pages, plus two covers, plus 6 × 10 for the cast. See what costs credits for the complete table.
What does converting a book cost?
It scales with the length of the book, and the estimate is shown to you before any credits are charged. That charge covers turning the book into scripts — generating the page artwork afterwards is the normal per-page cost on top. See converting a book to a series.
Do I get credits back when a generation fails?
Yes, automatically. A generation that fails — content moderation, a timeout, a model error — is refunded without you asking.
What isn't refunded is a generation that succeeded but that you don't like. The credits bought the render, not the outcome. See failed generations and refunds.
My comic has no images on the inside pages. What's wrong?
Almost always: the pages were never generated. Creating an issue writes the script; page artwork is a separate step you trigger and pay for.
Open the issue and use Generate All Pages, or generate them one at a time. If you're short of credits, the pages you can afford will render and the rest wait. See generating pages.
Why do I get an "insufficient credits" error?
Your balance is below what the action costs, or below the 50-credit minimum needed to start any generation. Generating one page at a time rather than in bulk lets you keep working on a small balance — or top up from the credit display in the top bar.
