Getting started with Story Videos

A Story Video is a short narrated video — a sequence of AI-generated scenes with a single narrator voice, burned-in captions, and music — built from the same characters, assets, and art styles you already use for comics. Think of it as a moving comic panel: same look, same cast, stitched into a clip you can share as a Reel, Short, or TikTok.

Story Videos is a web-only feature. There is no video studio in the iOS app. iOS users can view a published video by opening its share link in a browser.

Two ways to start

From scratch. Click Create story video on the dashboard. This opens a brand-new video with zero scenes.

You build the script by describing your story to Sidekick, the assistant in the video editor's right-hand column. Tell it your idea and it asks a few clarifying questions if your brief is vague (genre and tone, setting, protagonist, conflict, length), then drafts scenes directly into the Script document. You can also ask it to copy scenes from another video.

From a comic you've already made. Open the issue, and in the editor's Tools rail click Turn into Video — or just ask Sidekick to make a video from it. This one doesn't start blank: it adapts that issue's pages and panels into scenes for you, and carries your cast across. See turning a comic into a Story Video.

The Video Studio: Script / Storyboard / Video

Every Story Video is edited in the Video Studio. The main area is a three-way toggle:

• Script — The scene document: narration, dialogue, setting, and characters per scene. This is where Sidekick writes and where you can edit directly.
• Storyboard — Optional still frames (up to two per scene) that show the video model exactly how a scene should open and close. See Storyboards.
• Video — The timeline and preview of your rendered clips. This is where you trigger scene rendering and open Publish.

A left-hand rail holds Tools, Cast, Assets, and Locations — your characters, assets, and locations for this video, each with a reference image the studio keeps visually consistent across scenes.

None of these are gated behind an approval step — every tab and rail pane is open as soon as the video exists.

How the flow works

1. Get a script. Either create a blank video and describe your story to Sidekick — it drafts scenes into the Script document as you talk — or start from one of your comics, which adapts the issue into scenes for you.
2. Refine the script. Edit narration, dialogue, or setting directly, or keep asking Sidekick to rewrite, add, or reorder scenes.
3. Optionally add storyboards. On the Storyboard tab, click an empty tile to generate an opening or closing frame for a scene — this charges immediately, with no confirmation step.
4. Render your scenes. On the Video tab, your very first scene render is free. After that, render scenes one at a time or use Generate All Scenes, which shows a credit cost confirmation before charging.
5. Publish. Open Publish to download an MP4 or put the video on a shareable link — export, download, and publish all live in that one modal.

The video stays fully editable at every stage, including after it's rendered and published — there's no read-only or locked state.
