Getting started with Story Videos

A Story Video is a short narrated video — a sequence of AI-generated scenes with a single narrator voice, burned-in captions, and music — built from the same characters, assets, and art styles you already use for comics. Think of it as a moving comic panel: same look, same cast, stitched into a clip you can share as a Reel, Short, or TikTok.

Story Videos is a web-only feature. There is no video studio in the iOS app. iOS users can view a published video by opening its share link in a browser.

Three ways to start

Click New Video on the dashboard to open the creation picker. Three modes are available:

1. New Video from a prompt. Describe your story idea and choose a narrator voice. The AI writes the full script for you. Good when you don't have a comic yet and want the fastest path from idea to video.
2. Convert from a screenplay. Upload a screenplay or script PDF and ComicInk turns it into a video series — one or more episodes, each with its own scenes, with characters and locations pulled from the script. See Converting a screenplay into a video series.
3. Convert an existing comic. Opens a picker so you can select a comic issue you've already generated. The AI re-paces the issue's script into video scenes, reusing every character, asset, and the comic's art style. Fastest path if you already have a comic.

The Video Studio: three tabs

Every Story Video is edited in the Video Studio, which has three tabs:

• Video — The timeline and preview of your rendered scenes. This is where you trigger scene rendering and export your finished video.
• Script — The per-scene narration text. The AI generates a first draft; you can edit, reorder, or rewrite any scene before approving.
• References — Your characters, assets, and locations for this video. The studio generates a reference image for each one so the AI can keep them visually consistent across scenes.

How the flow works

1. Script tab opens first. For a prompt-based video, the AI streams the script as you watch. For a screenplay or comic conversion, you start with the draft already in place.
2. Review and approve the script. Read through the scenes and edit any narration you want to change. When you're satisfied, click Approve Script. This saves the script, generates character and asset definitions, and takes you to the References tab.
3. Reference images generate. The studio kicks off image generation for every character, asset, and location referenced in your script. Watch them appear in the References tab — each tile fills in as its image arrives.
4. Approve the references. Once the reference images look right, click Approve to confirm them. You land on the Video tab, where the scenes are now ready to render.
5. Render your scenes. On the Video tab, click Generate All Scenes to render every scene. A credit cost confirmation appears before charges are applied. You can also re-render individual scenes after the batch.
6. Export or publish. When all scenes are rendered, export a downloadable MP4 or publish the video to a shareable link.
