Exporting, upscaling, and printing your comic

You can download any issue to keep, print, or edit outside ComicInk. Open the issue and click Export to choose how you want it.

How do I upscale my comic images to high resolution?

Upscaling lives inside Export. Open the issue, click Export, and choose Print quality — every page and cover is then AI-upscaled to print resolution (roughly 3× the pixels of the on-screen version, about 300 DPI). That is the built-in way to get high-resolution, print-ready versions of your comic images. (Choosing Web quality keeps the smaller on-screen images and doesn't upscale.) It costs about 10 credits per page or cover that needs upscaling — see the quality details just below.

Quality: Web vs Print

Web — free and instant. Uses the on-screen images (around 656 × 1024 pixels). Great for sharing on screens, but too small to print well.
Print — high resolution. Each page and cover is AI-upscaled to print resolution (roughly 3× the pixels of the web version, about 300 DPI), so it holds up on paper.

Print quality costs about 10 credits per page or cover that needs upscaling. You're only charged for the ones that aren't already print-ready — the modal shows the estimate before you confirm, and re-exporting an already-upscaled issue is free. If you later regenerate a page or cover, its print version is marked out of date and will be re-upscaled (and re-charged) the next time you export it at Print quality.

Format: PDF or individual images

PDF — a single file with every page (and the covers), ready to send to a printer or share.
Images (ZIP) — a .zip containing one image file per page, plus the front and back cover. Handy when you want the pages individually — for example, to open one in another editor and add credits or extra text to the cover.

When you choose Images (ZIP), you can pick the image format:

JPG — smaller files.
PNG — lossless and best for editing outside ComicInk.

Getting high-resolution individual pages

For the best individual pages — the ones you can edit or print — choose Print quality, Images (ZIP), and PNG. That gives you lossless, print-resolution page and cover files. (If you pick Web quality, the images will be the small on-screen versions no matter the format.)

What about character, asset, and world images?

Export and Print-quality upscaling apply to pages and covers only. The individual character, asset, and world reference images aren't part of the export and don't have a high-resolution or upscaled version — they exist at display resolution for keeping your art consistent, not as print deliverables. You can right-click and save one from its card, but it will be the on-screen size, not a print-ready file.

Choosing what to include

Scope — export all pages or a specific page range.
Covers — include or leave out the front and back cover.

While it's working

If some pages still need upscaling, choosing Print starts the upscale first: the modal closes and a progress toast tracks it. Your download starts automatically once the high-resolution versions are ready. Everything that was already print-ready downloads immediately.
