It is the graphics equivalent of a comic series or a video series: a place to keep related work together — a set of posters for one story, every sticker for one character, all the thumbnails for one channel. A graphic can be in one collection, or in none. Graphics that are in none are just loose on your Graphics shelf. --- ## Making a collection On the **Graphics** tab of your dashboard, press the small arrow beside **New Graphic** and choose **New Collection**. On a phone, it is in the **+ New** menu. You can also ask Sidekick from inside any graphic: > Put this in a new collection called Posters Collections open as a folder tile on the shelf, showing a cover taken from the most recently updated graphic inside it. --- ## What a collection shares **Reference images belong to the collection, not to one graphic.** This is the real point of a collection, and it is worth understanding because it is not visible on screen. When you upload a reference image — a photo, a logo, a style sketch — it lands in the library of whatever owns the graphic you uploaded it from: - the graphic is **in a collection** → the upload belongs to the **collection**, and every graphic inside it can use it - the graphic is **loose** → the upload belongs to **that graphic alone** So a set of posters in one collection all draw on the same uploaded logo, and you upload it once. A loose graphic keeps its uploads to itself. Each library holds up to **50** reference images — 50 per collection, and 50 per loose graphic. Characters, assets and locations are different: those come from your comics and are available everywhere, whatever collection a graphic is in. --- ## "My other graphic can't see the image I uploaded" This is the most common surprise, and it is working as intended. An uploaded reference image is **not** shared across everything you own. It belongs to whatever owned the graphic you uploaded it from. So if a picture you uploaded is missing from another graphic's Assets tab, it is because the two graphics do not share a library: - they are **in different collections** — each collection has its own library - one is **in a collection** and the other is **loose** — a loose graphic keeps its uploads to itself - they are **both loose** — two loose graphics never share uploads To make one image available to several graphics, put those graphics in the **same collection**, and upload it from any one of them. Uploads used to be shared across your whole account, which caused the opposite complaint: a picture uploaded for one graphic turned up in the Assets tab of every unrelated graphic you made afterwards. --- ## Moving a graphic in or out From inside a graphic, choose **Move to collection** in the Tools rail, or ask Sidekick. Pick a collection, or choose **No collection** to set it loose. Reference images follow the graphic, and what happens to them depends on the direction: - **Moving into a collection** — the graphic's own uploads move with it and become part of the collection's shared library. They are now available to its other graphics, which is the point. - **Moving out** — the graphic takes its **own copy** of whatever it was using. The collection keeps its originals, so the graphics still inside are unaffected. Either way, nothing the graphic was already using stops working. --- ## Deleting a collection Deleting a collection asks what to do with the graphics inside, and **the default is to keep them**. They move out of the folder and go back to being loose on your shelf, each taking its own copy of the reference images it was using. If you tick the box to delete the graphics too, they are deleted properly — images and version history included — and that cannot be undone. --- ## Renaming Open the collection and click its title, or use the **⋮** menu in the top right. The menu is also where **Delete collection** lives. --- ## What Sidekick can do From inside any graphic, Sidekick can list your collections, create one, and file the graphic into it or take it out: > What collections do I have? > Make a collection called Channel Art and put this in it > Take this out of the collection It will tell you what happened to the reference images when it moves something, because that part is invisible otherwise.
